I really enjoyed your post and have a long list of Didion to read / catch up on. I started with her book about her first year as a widow to compare it with mine. And because of your post, I'd now like to see the archives-- hope it can be digitized even if there's an "entrance fee" for those of us that can't easily travel, and will certainly follow up on the recipes and dinner plans / guests. (Sounds like fun, including to imagine being at each one!)
I don't think I ever imagined Warren Beatty having a crush on Joan Didion. I'm sad I read this after Easter, but I suppose I can prepare for next year. Lovely post. You're making me itch to reread The White Album again!
The only time Iāve ever questioned Didionās taste is hearing that she liked the Doors! I do think I need paisley napkins, though. Happy happy Easter, I wish all lots of chocolate.
Oh man I LOVED this. Iām all about the small details and table lay outs and menus and music andā¦.š„°š„°š„° Wrote about my love of hosting here too ~
Loved this post as it brings a nostalgia for another time. A little bit of time traveling and scene setting was greatly appreciated. Reading Joan Didion comes this weekend.
This is exactly the kind of obsessive fan girl content Iām here for.
Oh! And sorry for my rudeness: Happy Easter and enjoy being with your guests!

I love everything about this. I see a Nora Ephron dinner party in my future.
This was a lovely read! x

Truly brilliant article. I will share it and read it on repeat. Thank you for this utter gem!
This recap and your wry wit that accompanies Joan's party fare was completely delicious. Thank you.
brb immediately planning a dinner party
Love this and I'm with Joan. I adore Easter. We did oven fired pizza, greek salad and creme caramel for friends on Easter Sunday.

My mother also keeps folders of her dinner party menus, who was there and what tablecloths were used š„¹
Really enjoyed this one and I will never get sick of seeing those hanging baskets.
This is brilliant.
