Loved this post! The bathroom capers made me laugh out loud as it transported me back to my own tricky makeshift solutions during our bathroom renovation in London 20 years ago!
Design shows make the process look so easy but making decisions can be so overwhelming! It has taken me 9 months to decide on a F&B color for our dining room! Goodness knows whether it was the right one!
Just finished the bathroom renovation! The spare bathroom didn't get renovated so we
had an alternative. But we live in a flat and the garden is not an option. I think it's pretty and crucially, we have it functional again after 9 months (long story, the plumbers took only 10 days though). The most annoying thing is the basin tap that is too small. The plumber didn't care to advise, so I chose the wrong tap. My partner will replace it eventually, but for now I live with this big lessons learned reminder. It might come handy for the spare bathroom renovations one day.
I guess it’s lucky you could pee in the garden without being overlooked? How’s that for scratching for silver linings. I also hated all of the choice. We’re wondering about adding another bathroom and whilst we will have a bathroom whilst it’s done - if we do it - I’ve already been going potty this evening (ugh, pun not intended) trying to figure out what the best layout would be, nevermind a colour scheme and sanitary ware.
On mixers: I hope you bought the best you can afford. Apparently our plumber told this to my husband. I don’t remember but we did not and after 6 years it’s VERY difficult to get it to go colder. We do not do cold showers in this house because it would take 15 mins of wiggling the tap to get it cold enough. And god forbid somebody wants it hotter. We might all be stuck with scalding water forever. Because there’s no chance we’re pulling off all the tiles to get to it and replace it any time soon.
🤣 Hard relate to a bathroom renovation nightmare a few years ago (during Covid). I have memories of weeing in a bucket AND getting hotels at the weekend when we couldn’t take it anymore. 🙈
This made me laugh out loud. I think I had blocked the hideousness of having our bathroom done until I read this post. The endless options for the bits of shower! The tile terror! I can’t face it ever again!!
“I thought it was going to be a certain type of experience and then I found myself peeing in a bush.”
This is basically a description of my first time at a music festival.
Who knew that my misspent youth was actually prep for a middle age of renovating.

Oh I just know that there will be an incorrect detail like your tap that will annoy me every day lol

Oh how annoying, we actually got the mixer that our contractor recommended because I was so confused by them! So fingers crossed it does a decent job!

And having to shower at family member’s houses but not wanting to ask too often so being much less hygienic than we’d have liked. 😬😱
As I'm now at my mum's I'm doing ok but I fear what my husband is going to look like when I get back ha
😂🤔
